"I'M UP FOR ANYTHING. OTHER THAN BOREDOM."

Eva Eckersdorfer, Accounting Specialist.

A bank as diverse as BMW Bank GmbH needs employees who are just as diverse – like Eva Eckersdorfer, whose wide-ranging professional expertise and years of experience make her the perfect fit for the company. Both she and her future manager realised this right away at the interview. The job she was applying for was tailor-made for her. The Munich native recalls: ‘It only took about three weeks from application to signing the contract. Everything went super-fast.’

The ideal job for all-round talents.

Yet Eva Eckersdorfer didn’t come from a classic banking background. The assistant pharmacist got into accounting through a ‘second-chance’ education programme after spells in bookkeeping at a distribution group and in leasing and refinancing at a software company. She worked as a software consultant and an instructor, assigned to projects and travelling a great deal. It was a demanding job – but something was missing. ‘I didn’t just want to find solutions – I wanted to implement them too.’ While looking for a new challenge, Eva Eckersdorfer discovered BMW Bank GmbH and immediately decided to send in a speculative application. ‘The next day there was a posting in my email for my current job at BMW Bank GmbH. I could have written the requirements profile myself: it was just a perfect fit in every respect’, remembers the 55-year-old.

Wanted: experience and a different perspective.

Her supervisor, Accounting Head Martin Hildbrand, was looking for someone just like Eva Eckersdorfer: ‘I had a very wide range of knowledge – from financing procedures to systems optimisation and contract management. In fact, in my old job, I had pretty much made myself indispensable – for good and for bad.’ Today, Eva Eckersdorfer no longer wants everything to grind to a halt without her – which is why being part of the accounting team works so well for her: there is always someone else who can step in and perform the same tasks. Her manager particularly appreciates the broader perspective that comes from her years of professional experience – especially in other disciplines. Eva Eckersdorfer summarises her qualifications as follows: ‘I do have a different way of approaching things, but that was precisely what this job called for. I always look at things from the perspective of an “outsider” and question the process much more often than my colleagues.’

Typical BMW – getting started is fun.

What makes BMW Bank GmbH such an attractive employer soon becomes clear in the everyday working environment. ‘There’s a wide range of development opportunities – from job-specific training to personal development seminars to first-aid classes’, explains Eva Eckersdorfer. The company is not just interested in enhancing the skills and capabilities of its employees, but also in their health. ‘They make sure everyone is doing well and there are no issues.’ This benefits both sides. Eva Eckersdorfer has now been working in accounting for two-and-a-half years. Her verdict so far? Being able to define her own area of activity and help guide the fortunes of the company is a constant source of satisfaction and daily motivation. ‘I know this is not a dead-end job. There’s tremendous potential for development here – for everyone.’ It certainly looks like Eva Eckersdorfer has found her dream job.
